Photographing on remote islands is always challenging, but almost always rewarding. This particular afternoon I slipped off the RIB tender into 3 metres of water with my massive Pelican case in one hand and tripod in the other. I came up coughing and spluttering clinging to the Pelli case like a life ring. Swimming ashore and trudging up the beach I was soaked, it took me a while to get over the embarrassing debarking. Whilst out on a research trip we dropped anchor in a bay as the sun was low on the horizon. Once all the chores were done I manage to get on shore and snap this glowing dusk scene. I love dragging shutter speeds out on seascapes as you are never really sure what you might get… the wait to get your films back is always suspenseful.
